Tetrapotassium pyrophosphate (TKPP) is a white, hygroscopic powder or granule that has many industrial and food uses. It’s also known as tetrapotassium diphosphate or TKP.
Industrial uses
Water treatment: Prevents scale and corrosion in cooling towers and boilers
Oil and gas: Disperses mud rings in oil drilling and stabilizes holes
Mining: Used in the mining of ore and clay
Electroplating: Removes surface oxidation from metal
Paints and coatings: Used as a leveling agent, pigment dispersant, and sequestrant
Ceramic and porcelain: Used as a dispersing agent
Synthetic rubber: Used in the production of synthetic rubber
